The 1st annual Dog Days of Summer Art Fair in Rabbit Hash was a great success!! On the first weekend of August, our little river hamlet was all a buzz. There were 25 or more artists selling their goods. We had potters, painters, photographers, jewelers, glass artists and a stone carver. Under a threatening sky, the shoppers, artists, musicians, magicians, and motorcyclists made for a great two-day affair. Thankfully the storm held off both for Saturday and Sunday! With moderate temperatures and only a few minor scattered showers, the event certainly didn't live up to its "dog days" name! Once again we were blessed here in Rabbit Hash.
Four Moons Barbeque was serving its finest in good eats. The Belleview Volunteer Firefighters and Friends of Rabbit Hash had bake sales to raise money for their causes. The kids had a lemonade stand but mostly kept entertained by watching The Pickeled Brothers show. They are magicians of sorts with fire eating, sword swallowing and, of course, tricks with insects too detailed to mention! The Rising Creek String Band entertained the crowd with some traditional bluegrass and POKE (as always) wooed us with their homegrown lyrics.
A nice time was had by all and I cannot tell you how delightful it was to see people happy, smiling, laughing and living in peace here in Rabbit Hash. Thanks to all the artists for making this a day to remember!
