On Sunday, April 29th, we experienced our very first Bicycle Race put on by Ohio Valley Racing. It was a beautiful Spring day and the race attracted quite a crowd. There were also a good deal of participants! It seemed that there were bicycles everywhere. Thank goodness that the Sheridans (our webmasters), and the Williamsons donated their property by the river for parking. They reported to us that everyone who parked there was very polite and did not leave any trash for them to clean up. Being on the day right after the Great American Cleanup, they were quite happy about that.
Although for the most part, the bike race was fun, there were a few incidents reported that were not so nice. I would like to acknowledge those complaints. When we have something new that attracts a great many people to this little area, sometimes things don't turn out as intended. We are always working on ways to make the events more successful and above all, more comfortable for those of you who either live around here or come here on a regular basis. Your ideas are always welcome.
There were several winners and you can view the results of the race on the Ohio Valley Racing
website. Jeffrey Jakucyk provided a sampling of his event photos, two of which are shown on this page. They are really fantastic! See photos of the bicycle race here.
Thanks to everyone who attended! If you have anything you'd like to add, please feel free to use the comments form below.
