Boy, did we have a ball!! Saturday night brought lots of good cajun music, cajun food and cajun dancing. Lagniappe played under a banner that read "Voodoo Lounge" and it seemed rather appropriate considering their mesmerizing, hypnotizing lyrics and frenchy ways.
Masks were required but some folks didn't have them. Fortunately they could buy them from some little enterpreneurial kids selling them at the door. The costumes were beautifully festive and the traditional parade around the barn was in the true spirit of Mardi Gras.
The weather prediction of snow and ice scared off some folks but those that braved the the storm got to eat some red beans and rice that had been cooked outside in a the big cast iron cauldron. My hats off or should I say, "masks off " to all those who helped make it possible... To Rick for cooking, to Yvan for the idea, to Bob for working, to the kids for working the door, and to everyone who showed up, dressed up, and shared their energy and spirit with us.
The party didn't stop on Saturday! Michael McEntyre and the Marmalade Brigade played in the store on Sunday. The smooth, funky, old timey sound of this band finished the weekend off nicely. We had just enough jambalaya to last through lunch and just enough music to land us into Sunday evening.
Thanks to all and see you this Saturday, February 28th, for some great Western Swing with the recently reunited Sidecars.
