Rabbit Hash received a special treat on Sunday, April 26th, when the band, CORE, decided to forgo their usual rehearsal and set up on the General Store's riverbank to play for us. It was a nice warm day and there was a good mix of bikers, tourists and locals enjoying the music. There was plenty of cheering as the band let loose with a lot of people's favorite hits.
CORE consists of Doug Brush on guitar, local Greg Lamblin on bass and vocals, Tommy Brewer on drums and vocals, and Donny Bray on lead vocals. They play a dynamic mix of 90's style rock ala Stone Temple Pilots, Goo Goo Dolls, Green Day and R.E.M.
During the show the band passed the hat (or more accurately, donation jar) for the family of John "Buzz" Shields (drummer for the Modulators and the Modified), who died suddenly the week before. At times Donny was kind enough to give up his mike for guest appearances by his adorable son, local Ben Ford, and Greg's daughters Jordan and McKenna.
Donations are being accepted for the "Buzz Shields Memorial Fund" at any Bank of Kentucky location. Core raised $150 towards this fund.
