2009 River Sweep is Coming!

The "2009 Ohio River Sweep" will be held in Rabbit Hash, Kentucky on Saturday, June 20th from 8:00 AM until Noon. River Sweep, sponsored by the Ohio River Valley Water Sanitation Commission (ORSANCO) and ORSANCO Educational Foundation, is and annual riverbank cleanup for the Ohio River and its tributaries.

Volunteers are invited to help cleanup the Ohio riverbank in Boone County and create a cleaner community for all of us.

Cleanup sites in Boone County will be Lower River Road at the Rabbit Hash General Store, Big Bone Boat Dock (Union), Petersburg Boat Dock, Split Rock Conservation Park (Petersburg), and Giles Conrad Park (7150 River Road). There will also be two new additional cleanup sites located in Belleview and also at Duke Power Plant.

On June 20th, volunteers are needed in Rabbit Hash, Kentucky to help clean up the roadside and river banks running along Lower River Road. This will include portions of Lower River Road stretching from both above and below the "Rabbit Hash General Store".

This is also a great opportunity for young volunteers to earn volunteer hours for schools or churchs and to learn the importance of volunteering for community service. We can all make a difference!

The "2009 River Sweep" will start Saturday morning at 8:00 AM and end at 12:00 Noon. Trash bags, gloves and drinking water are provided for all participants. An awesome Free Lunch and T-shirt are also provided (for working volunteers only).

After lunch is served, door prizes will be awarded and a group photo will be taken of all event partcipants. So be sure to stay to the very end and join in on the after event fun!
