I am sitting on the front porch of the General Store enjoying the sunshine and welcoming my fair weather friends. We survived the winter rather well here in Rabbit Hash.
Every Sunday afternoon we would gather around the woodstove soaking up the heat, listening to the music and waiting on Joe's macaroni and cheese to show up!! Last sunday we had two blues musicians from Tulsa, Oklahoma. If you were going to regret missing any show this winter, this would have been the one!
Lil' Joe McLerran and Robbie Mack (www.littlejoeblues.com ) played at the Queen City Blues Festival last summer and we got an up close and special visit with them this past Sunday in the General Store. They are about to tour the middle east and hopefully, the big dose of Rabbit Hash they recieved will carry them through. I know the blues injection we got from them will help us manage to send old man winter away.
If you missed our incredible Masquerade Ball featuring Lagniappe, you will want to be sure to catch the first barn dance of the year on Friday, April 16th at 7:30. Put on your dancing shoes because The Star Devils are bringing foot stomping, two stepping, toe tapping, girl grabbing, hot rockabilly to kick off the 2010 Barndance season.
You have only four more Sundays of music to catch this winter. The line up is great so make sure to put it on your calendar:
- March 7: The Flock
- March 14: Davy Jay Sparrow
- March 21: The Tillers
- March 28: Ricky Nye and Rob Lumbard
It is fun for the whole family! Teresa Davis, local artist, will be having art lessons in the barn for the kids in the crowd. In weeks past they made marbalized paper cards and dream boxes. Cost is $7. Come join them this week to make star shaped lanterns. Perfect for springtime!!
