Our annual celebration in Rabbit Hash is Saturday, August 31st! This year marks the 40th year of the Old TImers Day Festival. It started out as an intimate, local gathering to share food and stories of yesteryear and although it has morphed into a music festival, it still serves a similar purpose. It is a gathering of families, friends, locals and out of town folks to bid farewell to summer, share stories and remember those who have gone before us.
It is hard to be in Rabbit Hash and not think of times when life was simpler, maybe harder but maybe just simpler. After all, we know when you begin the descent into the Ohio River valley at Rabbit Hash, something calms you and reassures you that life and people are good.
I look forward to this day every year and this year is no different. Things are not the same as they were 4 years ago or 40 years ago, but we still need a place and time to connect to one another. Let it be Old Timers Day for you this year.
Hope you can make it out to join in the merrymaking of this festival, enjoy some food and good company on the banks of the Ohio River. And stay tuned in to Rabbit Hash to catch one of the final barn dances of the season or to check out the incredible Living Land and Waters River Cleanup boat parked on the river in Rabbit Hash September 4th-14th.
