  • History of Rabbit HashSurviving floods and fires...

Little documented history of Rabbit Hash actually survives, primarily because devastating Ohio River floods in 1884, 1913 and 1937 ruined many records. There is still mud in the store's attic crawl space from the historic 1937 flood, and the only reason it is still here is that it's anchored securely to the ground by a series of iron rods.Read More

Grand Re-Opening on April 1st

The fog is lifting and the piles of sawdust on the old general store floor have all been swept up. Looks like it is getting to be my turn to kick it into gear and prepare the old girl for your eyes, ears and souls! No fooling around here.....I am shooting for a Grand Re-opening on April 1st, 2017. I have gotten the go ahead from master builder, human extraordinaire, Ed Unterreiner! Hats off to the diligence of Ed and his crew, Eddie Unterreiner, Dustin Boone Hagedorn, Duane Doyle, Don Clare and Brandon Ryle and their incredible efforts of the rebuilding of the store. It is truly been an epic effort to create such an architectural marvel. My deeply intense gratitude can never be conveyed nor can I express the pride I have in all of you for your support, donations and role in this epic event.

After the last nail is driven.....it will be time to swing open the shutters and listen for the old familiar sound of the door bell ringing!! There is no way to thank you but I would like to try so how about filling the first day of April with live music, smiling faces, laughter and hopes for days to come. Some old familiar entertainers for your exultation...

Sideways by the Stove Every Sunday Through March!

2017 sideways by the stove music line up

Join us every Sunday afternoon from January through March for "Sideways by the Stove" featuring the best music around.

Sunday music is always fun in Rabbit Hash. Enjoy a cold beer in the barn, hang out with your friends and make new ones, and best of all, listen to incredible music performed by your local favorite artists.

Come on down! It all starts at 2:30 PM and goes until 5:30 PM. As always, no coolers and carpooling is strongly advised.

Restoring of Souls, Spirit, Community

Coming out of the fog and into some clarity of what the future holds. The captain of a river barge awaits his emergence from the fog with great anticipation and it is that feeling that has descended upon Rabbit Hash as summer comes to a close. Smiling, hopeful faces pass the threshold of the barn every day now and my heart is full. Full of foresight and prospect. This town is buzzing again and the excitement is almost uncontainable.

I have posted some photos of what has been happening in the last few weeks in Rabbit Hash. It is no easy task what those men are doing over there across the street. It is not like they are nailing pine boards together. They are drilling and hammering stubborn, 200 year old oak. I can not begin to tell you how hypnotic the sound of their hammers pounding all day in the bright sunshine of these fall October days are. Each strike of those hammers makes me feel closer to home and now I realize that the restoration is not just the actually physical building being erected, but the restoring of souls, spirit, community and the life that we all have come to know and love.

Barn Dance, River Sweep, and River Run

After the heat of this past weekend I think we can say summer has arrived. Summer brings lots of life, love and events to Rabbit Hash so I want to keep you updated.

This coming weekend is the Ohio River Sweep on Saturday, June 18th. Boone County does a terrific job organizing the event and treats their volunteers with donuts for breakfast, a t-shirt for their hard work and a chicken dinner for lunch. Come out and help them keep our river banks safe and clean. More info

On Friday, June 24th, Johnny Berry and the Outliers from Louisville will be laying down some very dance-able tracks in the barn for our monthly fix of live music in Rabbit Hash. The dance starts at 8:00 PM, everyone is welcome, and no alcohol please.
